2003-04 TV Fall Preview
Showdown of the Network Stars

If there's one thing we've learned from this year's Showdown of the Network Stars -- and vampires with souls -- it's that gentlemen (and women, no doubt) prefer blonds.

James Marsters has ascended to the top of the TV heap, winning the third annual Showdown.

He beat his "Angel" co-star, David Boreanaz, by a wide margin, for the title. Marsters now joins Gillian Anderson and Jennifer Garner in the Showdown hall of champions.

Marsters, the No. 6 seed in the Central time zone when it all began, cruised through his early matchups, then started beating higher-seeded foes in the later rounds.

Along the way, he beat "CSI's" William Petersen and "Friends" Emmy winner Jennifer Aniston -- stars of two of the biggest shows on TV -- before taking out Eliza Dushku in the Final Four and then trouncing Boreanaz.

That's all for this year, but next fall 63 other stars will be trying to knock Marsters off the throne.
